Help propose an interactive design concept for a retail experience

Performance Media Assessment 2 — ORSQ and installation research

Shoe Trend

Sneakers, among other types of shoes, have been in a craze and have been one of the best products that will catch a bystander’s attention from a window case. Knowingly, there obviously are famous brands that were spread worldwide and are ranging from prices that are affordable to unbelievably expensive. Sometimes, this makes other brands of less fame to be diminished by the shadows of the other well-known brands. With this concept, it can help support local indie brands from Singapore to catch the ride of the trend and make it to the top.

ORSQ

Founded in February 2017 by Oscar T., and pronounced the same as his name Oscar, the brand intends to ‘redefine the rules for modern athleisure elegance in the areas of footwear.’ As it aims itself towards millennials and Gen Zs. Their designs are made digitally, and they pride themselves on their material fabrications fusing with the latest technology.

Artist Impression & Interaction

The installation will be a small runway hall circling the outer store before you get in with the main array of shoes. Before the runway, you will encounter a display pad that allows you to try up to three sets of footwear to try. As they clicked on the chosen pieces, they will continue to walk across the runway, where the upper 7/8 made from a one-way mirror so that people can see you, but you can only see your reflection. The remaining 1/8 is a digital screen embedded with a motion sensor, so that it detects your feet, and reprojects your feet walking with the chosen shoes, so you feel like wearing them through the runway. At the end of the runway, you are given the location of the shelves where the shoes you picked are placed. You are free to get in the store, exit, or try back to the runway again after that.
